Art enlisted in the air force in 1941. Unknown to him, he was deferred by his employer who claimed his work at home was necessary for the war effort. When Art went to the recruitment office in Hamilton to find out why he had not been called up, he discovered his employer's actions. Art removed the deferral, and was called up four weeks later...
